The Late Ones, who create a unique hybrid between soulful roots reggae and message-driven hip hop, return with an EP giving a four song taste of their upcoming debut album, due in 2021. The songs on Lately are all superbly suited to address this painful and revolutionary moment in American history, touching on issues of social justice and racism, as well as the importance of community and brotherhood to achieve the former and move past the latter. The Late Ones lyrically fire on all cylinders here, while the music - with participation from The Expanders, members of Orgone, and Medicine For The People, among others - carves out exciting new shared ground in both the reggae and hip hop genres.
